The Institute
What we do
We are committed to producing high-quality research for development, to build impactful evidence on holistic child development and well-being, education, and social policy. Through strategic collaboration and our team’s passion, expertise, and use of rigorous research methods, we generate objective, and meaningful evidence to power well-being.
We build evidence to equip those who can and will act, with robust research to promote the most effective, efficient, and ethical actions – both in terms of what to do and how to do it.
How we do it
We are guided by a vision for research, evidence, and thought leadership, which facilitates the conditions for building effective, efficient, and risk-informed strategies, to achieve holistic child development.
Our work is grounded in the Learning for Well-Being (L4WB) Framework, which recognises child development as a complex system. It proposes that holistic child well-being is achieved through a eudemonic development process, whereby children achieve their unique potential in each dimension of well-being: mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual.
Our work seeks to amplify the influence of the L4WB framework through evidence-based advocacy, partnerships, and guidance for implementation, with policymakers; education, health and social service practitioners; parents; and children.
Our vision
To achieve holistic child development and the fulfilment of each child’s unique potential through advances in child policy and practice in education, health, and social services, globally.
Our mission
To promote, through rigorous research and purposeful collaboration, the L4WB approach at the heart of global policymaking, to drive lasting and impactful change in child education, health, and social welfare, globally.
